NFL Betting on the Eagles at Carolina
The Philadelphia Eagles are 2½ point NFL betting favorites on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. This is the first game of the season for both teams, and the Eagles are the road favorites. The total for this game is 43½.
Runningback Brian Westbrook will be tested on Sunday, and Donovan McNabb will definitely be under the NFL betting microscope. He’s got an excellent receiver in DeSean Jackson whose last season produced 62 completions for 912, and scoring a total of two touchdowns.
On the Panthers side, Jake Delhomme will start again for the team. He’s gotta be real careful because even though last NFL betting season he threw 15 touchdown passes, and 3,288 yards, he threw 12 interceptions and that’s unacceptable. Pretty much, for every touchdown pass he threw, he also threw an interception.
The Panthers need some good production in this opening game from star runningbacks Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams. Between the two, they ran for more than 2,300 yards last year, and are expected to do much better this upcoming 2009 season.
The last four times the teams met, the Eagles have beat out the Panthers three times. In their last 12 NFL betting games at home, Carolina is 8-3-1 ATS.
