Percy Harvin Looking Like a 2009 Draft Gem
There were huge NFL betting expectations on put on the shoulders of rookie Percy Harvin the minute the Minnesota Vikings took him with their first found draft pick this year. And so far, the youngster has been living up to them as he has quickly emerged as one of the front runners in the NFL betting rookie of the year contest.
At the beginning of the NFL football betting season it was the QBs –Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford- that were receiving all the rookie of the year attention. But after five weeks of football and some off games by the signal callers Harvin has bullied his way into the conversation as well.
The Florida product has emerged as Brett Favre’s favorite target and leads the team in receptions and receiving yards. But he’s hardly a one trick pony and has also had an impact running the ball and on special teams –a triple threat rarity. His all-purpose style of play has made him extremely valuable to the team with his biggest play of the year likely his 101-yard kickoff return for a TD.
While it’s hardly NFL football news that Harvin is having success it would be a bit of a shocker if he beat out either of the rookie QBs for the rookie of the year award. However, if his team continues to have success and he continues to thrive as a multi-purpose player it will be tough to deny him in the voting for the prestigious award.
