The NFL Hall of Fame opened their doors on September 7th, 1963 in Canton, Ohio. Seventeen players entered by that time. By 2007, all the players that entered the NFL Hall of Fame had played their entire career in the NFL , with the exception of Billy Shaw guard from the Buffalo Bills, who played his entire career in the old American Football League (AFL).
It was not until 1970 when the two leagues AFL and NFL merged in just one national league under the current name of NFL. The team with more players in the NFL Hall of Fame is the Chicago Bears with 26.
