Texans Travel to the Desert to Take Struggling Cards

October 9th, 2009 by No comments

The NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals certainly didn’t expect the 2009 NFL betting season to start this way. The team that nearly won the Super Bowl last year has fallen to the pitiful depths of not only its own division, but the NFL betting league, with a 1-2 start. At risk of hyperbole, this week’s match up against the Houston Texans at home is a must win game for the Red Birds.

Coming off a ridiculous Week 4 bye, Arizona should be well rested and prepared for NFL football betting. The bye week is a major advantage for any team but nobody wants to waste it so early in the season. But for this reason alone the Cards will win this game. With an extra game of film to study and an extra week to execute a game plan Arizona should win this game.

Early Season MVP Candidates

October 7th, 2009 by No comments

No matter what anyone says, it’s never too early in NFL betting to start handicapping the MVP race. It’s one of the joys of the NFL football season and this year it could be a very interesting race. MYP racing is, of course, about individual success but team success is also a critical factor in the equation. That being considered, it’s almost impossible not to consider Peyton Manning the front runner in this year’s NFL betting season.

People were ready to write the Colts off but the team has jumped out to a 4-0 start in NFL football betting and Manning has been almost solely responsible for the team’s success. He’s leading the league in nearly every passing category with 114 passer rating, 334 ypg, 9 TDs and 1,336 yards through 4 games. That Manning is on this list is hardly NFL football news. But the fact that second-year Joe Flacco is in the mix is news.

A Tale of Two Rookie QBs: Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez

October 5th, 2009 by No comments

It’s not often that an NFL betting rookie gets the starting nod at the QB position. The most difficult position to play in all of sports generally requires a 2-3 year apprenticeship or extenuating circumstances. In Stafford’s case those circumstances were Detroit’s 16-game losing streak entering the NFL betting season. For Sanchez, it was his rookie coach’s experience with rookie QBs and his unflappable faith in the young man.

After becoming the first two QBs taken in the 2009 draft a month working in the NFL, both of these players have made a terrific first impression. The only difference is that Sanchez and his Jets find themselves atop their division with a 3-1 NFL football betting record while Stafford’s Lions remain the laughing stock of the league at 1-3.

The Battle of the Sainted Cities: San Fran vs. St. Louis

October 2nd, 2009 by No comments

It’s been quite a while since either of these teams held any prominence in NFL betting but the tides appear to be shifting, at least for one of these saintly cities. While the Rams are a complete mess and likely will continue to be, the Forty Niners seem to have found a winning NFL betting formula: play defense and let Frank Gore find the end zone.

Perhaps it not quite that simple but after years of wondering in the NFL football betting desert and collecting losses at a rapid pace the team finds itself in the unfamiliar position of division leader. And it’s not by accident. Coach Mike Singletary’s personality seems to have rubbed off on this defense and the offense, while hardly blinding has been playing smart mistake free football.

Manning Still Effective With Limited Weapons

September 29th, 2009 by No comments

Perhaps the best way to become an All-pro receiver in NFL betting is simply to play with Peyton Manning. If you think about all the players that have success catching the ball in Indy over the past decade the one common thread between them all is that they’ve had the inscrutable Manning passing them the ball.

This season many NFL betting critics has written the QB off. Many questioned the offense’s ability to move the ball without out Indy fixture Marvin Harris at WR. There were also many opinions in NFL football betting that didn’t think Manning had enough depth at any of the skill positions to lead this team to the playoffs. And these were very reasonable opinions considering that, in fact, the team did have very little talent in the receiving corps heading into this season.
